Stanton Receives Accreditation

 Stanton Territorial Hospital Receives Accreditation

YELLOWKNIFE (July 21) – Accreditation Canada, a non-profit organization has awarded Stanton Territorial Hospital accreditation status until September 2011. Stanton has received the second highest accreditation level, Accreditation with report.

“This award demonstrates our commitment in providing quality care and service and is the result of hard work across the organization on an ongoing basis. Very few organizations receive full accreditation.

Accreditation is a cornerstone of quality improvement and patient safety initiatives enabling an organization, such as Stanton’s to regularly and consistently assess and improve the services provided to patients,” said Kay Lewis CEO of Stanton Territorial Hospital.

Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit independent organization. The program provides national and international health care organizations with a voluntary, external peer review to assess the quality of their services based on standards of excellence. Stanton has been participating in the accreditation process since 1983. The last review was conducted in 2005 at that time Stanton received a three year Accreditation with report.

There are four possible options: Accreditation, Accreditation with Report, Accreditation with a Focused Visit and Non Accreditation.
