Services Provided

Your medical travel benefits are determined based on the current status of your NWT Health Care coverage, which means you must have a valid NWT Health Care card. 

MEDICAL TRAVEL BENEFITS include:

1) Transportation to the nearest centre for services.  Can be:
a) Scheduled service by air or ground
b) Chartered service by air or ground
c) Emergency Medical Evacuation by air, includes ambulance services
d) Private vehicle

2) Accommodation placement at a boarding facility, if applicable.

3) Ground transportation at the destination.  Includes:
a) to and from the airport
b) to and from appointment location

4) Meal allowance only if you are not staying at the boarding facility.

Restrictions:

- There is a co-payment fee that is applied to every trip for medical travel, however some individuals do not have to pay for this before traveling. 

- Travel originating outside the NWT is not covered.

- If you or your dependant(s) have access to medical travel benefits through an Employer, you do not qualify for these medical travel benefits.  However, if you exhaust your employer benefits, please go to the "Contact Program" section.

- There is a "Nearest Centre" policy, which means medical travel benefits will only be paid to the nearest centre if it is outside the NWT.  If the nearest centre is inside the NWT and you choose to go elsewhere NO benefits are covered.

- Visitors to the NWT will be billed 100% of all Medical Travel costs.

Over/Under $80,000 per Family Income
